One of the western companies produces such flashlights, using the heat of your finger. One LED shines there. I decided to increase the size of the flashlight by making a full-fledged eternal flashlight.
Electricity is enough to brightly illuminate the LED panel from the old battery lamp.
What is needed to make this eternal lamp?
- Peltier elements - 4 pieces, buy here - aliexpress
- A piece of aluminum.
- Boost converter - aliexpress
- LED panel from the old lamp.
I talked about the operation of the element in a previous article - free energy in your home, we will not stop here.
Lantern circuit
The scheme is this - all 4 Peltier elements are connected in series: plus to minus, and then this circuit is connected to a boost converter.
Preliminary check
We get a large radiator and check the performance of the circuit. The radiator cools the elements from the bottom, and I heat them with my hand from the top. At the output of the elements, a voltage of about half a volt appears. This is enough to start the boost converter. The LED connected to the converter output glows brightly - I testify to its operation.
Making a lantern on Peltier elements
Now we will bring everything to life. Take an aluminum sheet and cut a strip. The thicker the aluminum, the better. 1-3 millimeters will be enough.
Cut out blanks such as shoulder blades. In the center there will be Peltier elements, and the wide ends will serve as radiators.
We bend the blanks to make it look like a spaceship from science fiction films about space. There must be space between them. In the center there will be wires. Plastic pads completely hide the radiator inside the handle, do not allow the transfer of hand heat to the radiator. Thus, we touch only thermocouples.
We twist the plates, install the elements, press with plastic overlays, pass the wires. We fix the converter on one of the plates.
We make small ears for attaching the flashlight. For this, thinner aluminum can be used. We connect and solder everything.
That's all.
The best time to work this flashlight is of course winter. When on the street zero or minus hands are still not very cold, and using such a flashlight is quite real. For a better effect, hands can be changed periodically.
Try to do something similar yourself. It is not so much difficult and expensive, how much spectacular and exciting.
