Electric mousetrap

During my life I have seen many different mousetraps and rat traps. It’s not that I am somehow fond of this, but I just came across the breeding of mice from the house.

I will tell you how to make a mousetrap that will kill the mouse with an electric discharge. The design, as always, is simple and straightforward.

What is needed to make a mousetrap?

  • 9V battery
  • High voltage converter - aliexpress

And also: wire, wires, a piece of profile, a bottle, hot glue, etc.
We need a half liter plastic bottle. Need to cut off the neck exactly. To do this, first mark the cut line with a marker.

Cut off.

We take a piece of galvanized profile for attaching drywall. Cut a small piece.

Take the switch.

Mark the footprint for him.

We drill a hole in the center so that it is convenient to cut.

Cut with scissors for metal or another way.

Set the switch in the hole.

Unscrew the bottle cap halfway. We take a drill, fix a thin drill, and drill a hole in the lid without screwing it completely from the bottle. Drill on both sides. One hole is maximum at the top so that the passing drill does not touch the neck, and the second is as low as possible so that the drill passes through the lid and through the neck.

Next, screw the cap and drill a hole on the neck of the bottle with a large hole.

Then, just below, we make two more holes only on the necks with a thin drill.

We need a piece of wire. Bite off a piece of pliers.

Make a U-shaped and insert it into the small holes.

Let's bend like this:

Screw on the lid until the holes are aligned. Screw the screw into a small hole.

As a result, we got a knot, when the cover rotates in one or the other side, the self-tapping screw touches the wire. It will be a kind of switch.

Glue the resulting node to a piece of profile.

Then we take a larger piece of wire, bend it as in the photo and put it into the hole on the other side of the lid. We fix it with hot glue. It will be an electrode.

We assemble the entire structure.

We drill a hole for the wire.

Next, cut a strip from the remains of the bottle and bend it. It will be a spring.

We glue it with hot glue exactly in the middle between the angle of rotation of the lid.

That is, now, at any electrode displacement, it will return to its place.

We drill a hole for the wires.

Solder the wires, assemble the chain.

This is a high voltage converter that converts 9 V from battery to 7000 V.

We plant on hot glue.

We skip the high-voltage wire and attach it to the electrode.

We isolate all connections with the same hot glue and attach to the case so that nothing hangs.

We also put the battery on hot glue.

Everything is ready.

The principle of the mousetrap

A piece of fat is hung on a hook located in the center (mice and rats love it). The mouse approaches this piece and naturally tries to drag it away. She pulls it. As a result of this traction, the contacts located to the roof become closed. And the current from the battery will run to the high-voltage converter. The converter electrodes are connected to the hook and bait and to the profile. As a result, a high voltage will be passed through the rat or mouse, which will try to drag the fat away, which will kill the rodent.

Unfortunately, there is no video of real catching mice. But don't be upset: the instance is fully working.
When working with high voltage, be very careful! Good luck to all!
