Walls from a gas block are increasingly found in private homes, gradually crowding out brick and stone (from a “shell”, for example).

And many have a question: how is the fastener best suited for walls made of gas blocks? Which is the most ideal?

And the most ideal for the average consumer is one that is reliable and cheaper.

The most reliable fastener for a gas block is a chemical anchor, but it is expensive, and therefore not everyone can afford it.

If we compare among themselves the available methods of fastening, then we can consider two main options:

  1. wooden chopper with mounting foam;
  2. wooden chopstick with liquid nails.

Both ways are good and accessible to everyone. But if you are still interested in which one is better, then read this article to the end.

"Fight" for the title of perfect fasteners

In this review, the author conducts an experiment, the main purpose of which is to determine the best fasteners for aerated concrete.

First, a few words about the hardware itself. The technology is pretty simple.

First you need to cut wooden choppers with a diameter of 28 mm. Moreover, it is desirable that they were from oak or ash.

The larger the area of the wooden dowel, the better it will be held in the material.

Then we drill holes in the gas block with a diameter of 30 mm (the gap should be minimal, no more than 1-2 mm).

Then we fill the hole with mounting foam (in the first case) and liquid nails (in the second case), spread it well on the walls, add a little more and then insert the dowel.

The pull-out test (load parallel to the self-tapping screw) and slice (load perpendicular to the self-tapping screw) showed that both types of fasteners do their job well.

The pull-out test showed that both fasteners can withstand the load without problems 500 kg.

The shear test showed that wooden dowels with mounting foam are able to withstand a load within 300-400 kgand chopped with liquid nails - about 500 kg.

In detail about what should be the ideal fastener for a gas block, we recommend that you look in the video on the site.
