When the faucet begins to drip in the kitchen (or in the bathroom), many owners immediately run to the store to buy a new crane box.

However, very often (even in most cases) the problem can be solved in a more budgetary way. That is, without buying a crane box.

In this review, the author tells in detail how to repair the faucet in the kitchen with your own hands and very quickly.

In order not to buy a new crane box, you need to reanimate the old one, which lets water through. And to do this is not difficult, but to start with a little theory.

Why does the tap start to flow

The main problem lies inside the crane boxes themselves. In their upper part there is a fluoroplastic ring, in which the rod abuts.

Over time, this ring simply becomes worthless, and as a result, the ceramic elements inside the crane box poorly fit together.

And, accordingly, water seeps between them. Now we’ll show you how to fix this.

The main stages of repair

The first step is to remove the silicone seal. Then insert a copper washer 1 mm thick inside.

If you have such a washer at home, but it does not fit in diameter, then you just need to grind it a bit on a grinding machine or using a angle grinder.

In an extreme case, you can adjust it to the size of the hole in the crane body with a conventional metal file.

Then we collect the crane box, install it in the mixer, and the crane will no longer drip.
