In this review, the author firmly decided that everything should be tried in this life, and decided to make a tool for cutting metal out of a chainsaw.
The first step is to disassemble the chainsaw body and remove the drive sprocket.
The sprocket itself (gear) needs to be cut with the help of angle grinders. We leave only the clutch plate to which the star was welded.
After that, on a lathe, the author makes a groove of this plate. What happened as a result, you can see the photo below.
The main stages of work
At the next stage, the author takes an asterisk (of a larger diameter and with a large number of teeth), and processes it on a lathe.
We put an asterisk on a bolt of suitable diameter, on top - a clutch plate.
Four holes must first be drilled in it so that the sprocket can be welded.
Next, install the modified leading sprocket in its "seat".
Parts manufacturing
The author cuts a tire from a metal plate. Drills two holes in it and makes a groove.
After that, you need to cut a piece of a rectangular-shaped plate, and drill four holes in it. We weld the workpiece to the tire (to the free end).
From a piece of strip and a steel plate, the author welds a casing that will be worn on the tire.
In addition, it will be necessary to make a semicircular protective casing for the cutting disc (as on an angle grinder).
Assembly process
To the plate welded to the tire, the master bolts a pair of case bearings. Insert a shaft with a second asterisk into them.
After that, we attach our homemade tire to the chainsaw and pull the chain.
To the protective cover for the cutting disc (from the outside), the author welds a piece of the corner. This is necessary in order to screw the casing to the plate welded to the tire.
We assemble the structure, install the cutting disc, and the homemade product is ready. It looks menacing, but it’s very inconvenient to control it in the process.
