An old circular saw blade is an excellent material for making a small hatchet. Let's get down to business right away. First of all, you need to draw an ax shape on the disk.

If you can’t draw by hand, then you can download and print a suitable template from the Internet, and then simply circle it with a marker. Or you can use the old kitchen hatchet as a basis.

Next, using a grinder with a cutting disc, we cut out the workpiece, but not clearly along the contour, but with a small margin. All the excess then will need to be polished on the grinder.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, it will be necessary to drill two holes with a metal crown and cut off the partition between them with a grinder. The inside edges must be filed.

Further, the author makes the descent of the blade and performs grinding on the grinder. After this follows the procedure of metal hardening - the workpiece must be heated red-hot in the furnace, and then cooled in waste engine oil.

After tempering the metal in a gas or electric oven, the grinding is finished and the blade is sharpened.

At the last stage, it remains only to make the handle. In this case, the author makes a pen from pieces of wood and epoxy, but you can just make a classic version of the handle.
