To get a beautiful decorative pattern on a wooden blank or a plywood board, the Lichtenberg homemade machine is often used for this. And you can assemble it with your own hands from a microwave transformer.

The peculiarity of this method of wood burning is that the process of creating decorative ornaments cannot be controlled in any way.

Each time, a lightning-like pattern turns out to be unique, because the electric current behaves unpredictably.

To make a homemade Lichtenberg apparatus, in addition to the microwave transformer itself, you will need a plastic container for storing food, a pair of crocodile clamps, a plywood board, a copper wire, a cord and a power indicator.

The main stages of work

The microwave transformer must be screwed to a plywood board with screws. Then it is inserted inside the plastic container. And separately, the master drills a hole in the container to install the power indicator.

One clamp is attached to the transformer housing, the second to the output of the secondary winding. And the 220V power wires are connected directly to the transformer.

After that, you can try to create masterpieces. As a "canvas" you can use both a piece of board and plywood. Two nails are hammered along the edges, and clamps are connected to them. Since the tree does not conduct current, the surface of the workpiece must be lubricated with soda solution.
