Do-it-yourself drum grinding on the base of a drilling machine

For a home workshop on the basis of a drilling machine, you can do drum grinding yourself, which is useful when processing wood blanks.

Moreover, please note that in this case, a foot drive is used for the forward and backward movement of the drill chuck. However, if desired, you can also use an electric drive (for example, from a car wiper).

If you have a drilling machine in your workshop or garage, but there is no grinding machine, then, having made a grinding drum and a drive, you can easily process various workpieces and parts made of wood (including hardwood such as oak).

Design features of the foot drive

As for the foot drive, its design is quite simple. The author made the pedal itself out of a piece of plywood.

A home-made “nozzle” is attached to the steering wheel of the drilling machine, which is connected to the pedal using a long wooden rail.

The more often you press the pedal, the faster the helm will turn, and accordingly, the drill chuck with the grinding drum installed in it will rise and fall. Cheap and cheerful, as they say.

The pedal pedal itself is mounted on a wooden block, which, in turn, the master screwed to the metal corners.

If you are interested in this design, we recommend watching a video in which the author demonstrates this device in work.
