In a private house, garage or workshop, a felt circle is usually used to polish axes and knives. In general, a thing is necessary and useful, and it is not necessary to buy it.
You can make a felt circle for a little grinder with your own hands. And this is not at all complicated, as it might seem at first glance.
As a basis, the author uses a Velcro disc for grinding wheels, which goes to the grinder. First of all, it is necessary to completely remove the material with Velcro - only “bare” plastic and a nut for the grinder should remain.
The main stages of work
It is necessary to glue a piece of felt to the disk. Then you need to trim it evenly along the contour of the disk, and carefully correct the edges. In this case, the master uses superglue.
After the glue has seized (it is advisable to wait about 4-5 minutes), it is necessary to cut the felt in a circle with scissors. The edge of the circle is aligned on sandpaper.
The felt circle is now ready for use. To do this, you need to fix the part that needs to be polished in a vice (or pressed with a clamp to the table), apply GOI paste or other polishing paste to the circle, and you can begin to work.
