There are at least five of the most common mistakes that are made when repairing a bathroom and lead to undesirable consequences. To make the repair sound, these errors must be avoided.
Do not use cement grout!
It is strongly recommended not to use cement grout at the junctions of the bathtub and tile (especially if the bathtub is steel or acrylic).
After a while, a crack will appear in this place. Through cracks, water will penetrate the seam and accumulate under the bathtub. As a result, mold will appear.
It is best to use silicone sealant to seal the junction of the bathtub and tile. The service life of a silicone joint (provided that a good sealant is used) is about five years.
Avoid buying cheap grout
Saving is good. But you need to save wisely. Buying cheap grouting for tiles, you risk spending twice as much on remaking.
If water gets on a cheap grout, its color is washed out over time and remains small specks on the surface of the tile.
No ventilation in the bathroom!
Lack of natural ventilation in the bathroom can lead to mold and mildew on the walls, floors and ceilings.
