With this simple home-made tool, you can wind steel wire of different thicknesses (that is, twist it into a spiral) on a shaft of a certain diameter.
To manufacture this tool will require a minimum of time and materials:
- a piece of rectangular steel plate;
- a piece of round pipe of suitable diameter;
- two sections of a profile pipe of square section;
- a piece of steel round bar for a handle.
The first step is to prepare the necessary materials for work. We pick up a grinder with a cutting disc and cut into billets of suitable sizes: two pieces of a profile with sides 30x30 mm 3 cm wide, a round pipe with a diameter of 28 mm and a length of 15-20 cm, a plate 20-25 cm long and two pieces of square metal.
The main stages of work
First, we weld two pieces of a profile pipe 30x30 mm to pieces of metal of a square shape, after which the resulting workpieces must be welded along the edges of a long plate. Then you need to clean the weld seams with an angle grinder.
A piece of a round pipe with a length of 15-20 cm is inserted into the sections of the profile. At a distance of 1-2 cm from the edge, you need to drill a hole for the handle - so that you can rotate the shaft and wind the wire around it.
At the base of the design, we drill four holes for attaching the device to the surface of the desktop. The process of manufacturing handmade improvised devices for winding steel wire can be seen in the video on our website.
