In this review, the author shows how to make an original wooden shelf for a private house or apartment from available materials.
To make this shelf, the author uses wide boards and end cuts of fruit tree branches. They play a decorative role in this case.
First of all, the author cuts two pieces of the board of the required size, and cuts out parts of the future shelf from them. Then the blanks must be passed through the thicknessing machine.
Why exactly this form? The fact is that the author will fasten the shelf to the chimney of the fireplace, which has a square section.
The main stages of work
At the next stage, you need to make grooves in the boards, then glue pieces of plywood into them and fix them with clamps.
We prepare the required number of end cuts and lay them on plywood.
The author fills the gaps between the cuts with an epoxy resin painted in black. Then it fills everything with transparent epoxy.
Similarly, you will need to do on the sides of the shelf. First, we lay out the end cuts, fill the voids with black epoxy, and then fill everything with transparent.
After polishing the hardened epoxy, the master applies a transparent epoxy topcoat to the surface. The tree can be varnished or soaked in oil.
