Sanding wood blanks by hand, especially when they are large, is not the easiest job. To facilitate the task and speed up the grinding process, you can buy a grinding machine.
However, spending money is not necessary. If you have at hand all the necessary materials and tools, and also have some free time, you can make a grinding machine yourself.
First, it is necessary to drill round blanks with a crown from a sheet of plywood, chipboard or MDF. Two rollers will need 22 round timber 18 mm thick. The dimensions of the grinding machine itself will be - 20 * 41 cm.
The main stages of work
At the next stage, on a drilling machine, you need to drill a hole for the stud in the center of each round timber. In this case, the M12 pin will be used.
And then the round blanks need to be glued into the rollers. For a home-made grinding machine, you need one master (drive) and one driven rollers.
To insert bearings, in the ends of the rollers you must first drill the seats with a feather drill. Then, through the holes in the bearings, a pin is inserted into the roller.
Further, from a small piece of board, two bars and a pair of rails from plywood, the body of the grinding machine is assembled. As a drive, you can use a drill or motor from a washing machine.
