Joints on wooden dowels are very popular because of their simplicity and reliability. For proper installation of dowels, drill holes as accurately as possible.

To do this, a simple homemade conductor is useful for drilling holes for dowels. You can make it yourself from improvised materials.

Please note that for a different diameter of dowels, you will need to make a separate jig template. Of the main materials, the author uses wooden blanks, metal tubes, as well as small pieces of plywood.

The main stages of work

First of all, it is necessary to drill two through holes in a wooden bar. And this is best done on a drilling machine to withstand an angle of 90 degrees. The diameter of the drill must be selected for the outer diameter of the metal tube.

In the next step, you will need to cut three pieces of rectangular plywood, and then drill holes in them.

Then it will be necessary to glue the metal tubes into the holes in the wooden blocks. For this, you can use epoxy glue.

At the last stage, it remains only to glue the wooden blocks to pieces of plywood - on PVA glue. After the glue dries, the template jig is ready for use.
