If you want to twist a steel square (torsion) to give a more effective look to different steel products, then it is not necessary to make a complex and bulky design. Let's make everything a lot simpler, the product will be small, but convenient enough to carry out its task.
So, we cut several segments of the square: four short and a couple of pieces twice as long. Using a bench vise and a welding machine, we connect them, making the first workpiece.
Two long sections of the bar connected to each other will be located between the four short, which are located at the edges. In the center of the long blanks from the square, it will be necessary to weld a metal bar.
The main stages of work
We connect the short segments with strips from the outside also in the center, and from the free edge we weld a steel bar. A hole designed for the fixing bolt must be drilled from above. Accordingly, it is necessary to cut the thread in it with a tap.
The second part of the design will be a long steel square, bolted to a small length in about the middle. This part will be the holding and turning mechanism of the improvised device.
We install the first part of the product in a vise (the vise must be firmly fixed on its base and not move during operation). We pass a steel square, designed for twisting, into its upper hole and clamp the edge with the second structural part. You can start twisting with some effort.
