The main material for making a homemade hand clamp is a car spring. Metal trimmings, which can be easily found in the garage, will also be required. Such a clamp is useful when performing locksmith and welding work.

Please note that the hand clamp design is universal. This tool can be used as a regular hand clamp, and also, if necessary, fixed to a table or workbench, in which case it will serve as a vice.

How to make a hand clamp

Using an angle grinder with a cutting disc, we cut off two pieces of the same length from the truck spring. Then we make markings at the end of each segment and cut out the excess part. We connect the two halves to each other and fix with the "finger" (for this you can use a segment of the bolt).

Then the flat ends of the workpieces need to be heated in the furnace, and then bent them at an angle of 90 degrees on the anvil. At a distance of 15-20 cm from the bent edge, we drill in each half one through hole for the stud.

From the remaining scraps of the automobile spring, two rectangular overlays must be cut out - they will be used as the clamping jaws of the manual clamp. We make on the surface of the notch for better adhesion to clamped workpieces and parts. We weld these sponges to the curved ends.

In addition, a piece of tape spring is required, which will be installed between the segments of the automobile spring. Next, we weld two plates for attaching the clamp to the table, and then proceed to assembly.
