Among the plastic pipes that are used to install sewers in an apartment or house, pipes with a diameter of 50 mm are most common. According to the good old tradition, it is customary to cut them into pieces of the desired length using special scissors, a grinder and a hand saw for metal.

However, there is another unusual way how you can cut plastic sewer pipes at home. And this will require a simple home-made device made of a piece of steel pipe with a diameter of 60 mm and the edges of a kitchen or hunting knife.

The main stages of work

We cut a piece of 5 cm wide from the 60th steel pipe, after which we clean it from rust and dirt from the inside and outside, using a grinder and a drill with a nozzle. Then we mark out two vertical lines and cut out an unnecessary piece from the workpiece.

After that, on one side of the resulting “groove” we use a angle grinder to make a small cut - we insert the blade of an old knife (which you have not used for a long time) into it at a slight angle and scald it.

Then we cut off the unnecessary part of the blade and clean everything well with a grinder or electric drill with a nozzle for grinding. Homemade appliance is ready! We mark the plastic pipe in the place where it will be necessary to cut it, insert it into the fixture and scroll counterclockwise.

To summarize

In general, the device itself is not bad - it can help out in situations where, for example, you need to cut a plastic sewer pipe (or many pipes), and there is no grinder or scissors at hand. However, for convenience, it is advisable to weld the handle.

If desired, you can completely fix the pipe cutter stationary on the table. Write in the comments under the video how else you can improve this adapt.
