Using a homemade gas (propane) burner made of ordinary materials and ordinary threaded elements of water pipes, you can perform a variety of operations:
- heating the steel billet for the purpose of its further forging or hardening;
- metal heating before electric welding;
- repair of soft bitumen roofing or soldering work.
In this review, we will tell you how to make a powerful propane burner with your own hands, which allows you to achieve high temperatures by mixing gas and compressed air.
A home-made burner is connected to any gas (propane) cylinder through a gearbox. Moreover, it has a collapsible design, which simplifies its cleaning, and a handle - for ease of use.
The main stages of work
To begin with, in a tube 40 cm long and about 20-24 mm in diameter, it is necessary to drill a hole at a small angle into which a piece of the tube 10 cm long and 12 mm in diameter is inserted, and then scald.
On the side at a right angle, you need to weld another piece of steel pipe, which will be used as a handle. Next, we clamp two washers in a vice - they need to drill holes around the entire circumference. One washer is welded to a pipe 9 cm long and 20 mm in diameter, the second to a piece of pipe with a diameter of 57 mm and 7 cm long.
We weld an inch tube with a washer to a pipe segment 20-22 cm long and 50 mm in diameter, and a second piece of pipe with a washer and a fixing screw is put on it. At the last stage of work, we install threaded elements (fittings) for water pipes, after which the gas burner is ready for use.
