You can make a compact and convenient desktop for a portable band saw from the available materials that are at hand. In this case, a 6.4 mm thick steel sheet is required. The thicker the metal, the more rigid and reliable the design will turn out.

The main stages of work

First of all, we protect the surface of the steel sheet (if it is rusty) with a grinder. Then we cut off a piece of a rectangular shape with dimensions of 30x35 cm. The edges of the workpiece must be processed with an ordinary flat file to remove burrs.
Then we cut four legs of a suitable length from the steel corner. Using a magnetic square for fixing, we weld the legs along the edges of the steel sheet at an angle of 90 degrees. After that, we process the places of welds with a grinder.

At the next stage, we mark the surface of the table and make a cut for the band saw blade to about the middle. After that, we trim the side of the steel sheet for a closer contact with the tool body.

To summarize

It is very convenient to work with such a bed table (and it does not take up much space). We weld a clamp to the base of the table from the inside, which will make it easy to install and remove the band saw.

First we install the band saw, then we expose the blade at an angle and fix everything with a clamp. For a detailed process of making a homemade table-frame for a band saw, see the video on our website.
