In this review, the author shows a simple way to seal holes and cracks in slate. Homemade glue is perfect for this.

This method should be considered only as an alternative to other methods that are not applicable for one reason or another.

To make homemade glue for slate, you will need foam, a glass or metal container, a solvent or gasoline.

You will also need a piece of wire or sticks to mix the glue during its preparation and before use.

The main stages of work

The first step is to break the foam into small pieces and place them in a prepared container (jar or bucket).

Next, pour the solvent or gasoline into the container, and stir the foam until it is completely dissolved.

Gradually adding foam pieces to the container and adding solvent, we make the necessary amount of glue.

How to seal a hole in slate

After the glue is ready, you can begin to close the holes. First, cut out the patch of the right size from old jeans.

Ideally, use fiberglass, but if it is not, then you can do without jeans. We try on the patch in the place where there is a hole or crack.

At the next stage, we clean the surface of the slate with a brush or sandpaper, then apply the finished glue.

Preliminary, it is desirable to degrease the surface. Next, lay the patch of jeans, and apply glue from foam on top.
