The effective operation of the stove in a private house, at the cottage or in the garage largely depends on the condition of the chimney. And not only from the outside, but also from the inside.

If you do not timely remove the soot that settles on the inner walls of the chimney, then the deposits that form create an obstacle to the passage of smoke. And the pipe itself warms up much worse, not to mention the fact that smoke can enter the room.

Therefore, the chimney must be cleaned. Usually, a mechanical method is used for this - cleaning with a metal brush. You can do it yourself.

The main stages of work

To make a simple home-made "brush" for cleaning the chimney at home, you will need a six-row metal cable with a diameter of 14 mm.

Cut off a piece of the desired length. And then from this piece it will be necessary to cut off a small "tail". For convenience, the cable can be clamped in a vice.

Next, the free end of the cable will need to be braided with a triangle, leaving three strands not woven.

At the next stage, we cut pieces of a metal cable 30 cm long. We untangle the strands, and then weave the cut segments into 1 2 or 3 4 turns, leave the ends about 10-13 cm long.

Then all that is necessary will be cut off by a grinder. Using pliers, dissolve the ends of the braids.
