To make a large wooden chest decorated in a rustic style with your own hands, it is not at all necessary to use new boards. To do this, for example, you can disassemble the old pallet or take as a basis the boards that remained after the dismantling of the roof lathing. If for such a thing you do not mind the new boards, then you can use them.
The chest itself can act not only as a convenient place to store things or some little things, but it is also a colorful decorative element in decorating the interior of a private house or summer house. And this is an original gift for the hero of the day or the newlyweds!
The main stages of work
First you need to prepare boards for making a village chest. Everything is simple here - we pass them through the thicknessing machine, and then we cut and trim the edge on a circular saw. The design of the chest is standard: the main box, bottom and lid. And first you need to make the box itself.
Glued blanks are cut to size on a circular, and then we trim the edges at an angle of 90 degrees. If necessary, align the edge part on the jointer. Then we tighten the four sides of the box with clamps and fasten it to the screws. For greater reliability, you can coat the joints with joiner glue.
At the next stage, we make the cover of the chest. We prepare boards and bars, after which we collect a convex-shaped lid from them.
