A chair with a pendulum mechanism (it works on the basis of bearings) is characterized by compact dimensions, convenience and practicality, and also ensures uniform swaying. Such furniture is a great option for a summer house and a country house.
You can make a pendulum rocking chair with your own hands from available materials. This will require:
- two steel strips - 40x4 mm and 60x6 mm;
- profile pipes 20x20 mm with a wall thickness of 2 mm;
- eight bearings with an outer diameter of 32 mm and an inner diameter of 12 mm;
- eight cages for bearings (can be made on a lathe or cut from a pipe);
- two garage hinges and bolts with M12 nuts.
The main stages of work
To minimize welding work, we will bend profile pipes by the cold method using a home-made conductor - a profile bending machine. It is advisable to immediately mark out every 100 mm so as not to make a mistake in the process of bending the profile.
In total, it is necessary to make five basic parts of the rocking chair frame: a support part, a seat, a back and two side parts. All this will require about 20 meters of a profile pipe. Also, it will be necessary to make two parts for adjusting the backrest - from the profile and strip.
Assembly assembly
Four steel pendulums for a rocking chair (the distance between the centers of the bearings is 260 mm) will need to be assembled from a 6x60 mm steel strip cut in half along with bearings and bolts with M12 nuts.
